On September 4th and 5th, the University of Mississippi’s Chapter of National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders host the annual Fall Institute at The Inn at Ole Miss.

The course features Char Boshart, speech therapist and president of Speech Dynamics, whose current book is Demystify the Tongue Tie. Boshart will lead discussions on facilitating the production of speech sounds, designing treatments to build vocabulary, as well as practicing intervention methods for small-group instruction.

Lisa Ivy, a CSD speech-language pathologist and clinical instructor, said this year’s course will bring over 225 participants.

“We’re happy to celebrate ten years of the Fall Institute,” said Ivy. “The course is on a Thursday and Friday and will offer 1.2 Continuing Education Units.”

Specific topics presented at this year’s Fall Institute will include Sound Production Analysis, the Eight Sensory Motor Elements of Speech Production, and Discrete Language Therapy Activities.

The final date for registration is September 4th at 7:30 am, and the fee is $225. The 2014 Fall Institute runs from 8:00 am-3:45 pm on September 4-5th. Contact fallinstitute@speechandhearingcenter.org or call 662-915-7271 for more information.
