NSSHLA

The University of Mississippi’s chapter of NSSLHA, National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association, is accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association, is affiliated with the National NSSLHA. It has received the following status in recent years:

2021: Bronze Status                                                                                         
2022: Silver Status

By hosting food and toy drives, providing tutoring free of charge, advocating for causes such as apraxia and autism awareness, and reaching out to Mississippi legislators in regard to accessibility for individuals with communication disorders, NSSLHA members show their support for the Oxford-Lafayette community each year.

In addition, members host holiday festivities that cater to children that require a more sensory-friendly environment. The annual Fall Festival, Sensory Santa, and Sensory Hop provide calm yet engaging atmospheres for children with autism to enjoy.

Through monthly meetings and a wide array of social and volunteer events, NSSLHA offers a network for CSD students and faculty to engage in and invites both undergraduate and graduate students to join.
